Do you feel the pull to do something more meaningful? To have more freedom? Something with a purpose that helps others?
I did too. I was hugely successful in my previous career, but all of these things were missing. So I started searching and ended up at a wellbeing conference with a friend where I stumbled on Hypnotherapy. I knew instantly this was for me. I needed to learn more so I went into full-on study mode and got certified immediately to become a Hypnotherapist. And the rest, as they say, is history!
If you’re in research mode right now, trying to decide whether your dream career is to become a Hypnotherapist, read on as I give you an honest overview of all the reasons why becoming a Hypnotherapist and being self employed could be the best thing you ever do.
1.Becoming a Hypnotherapist means freedom and flexibility
Finding the traditional 9-5 routine harder than it once was? When you run your own business, you set the hours that work for YOU.
- If you want to see clients only at weekends, you can.
- Evening appointments only? You can.
- If you’re an early riser and would rather be finished by 3 pm, you guessed it, you can.
You decide when you work.
Take days off when YOU want – no holiday requests to complete or negotiating with colleagues about who gets the half-term holidays off with the kids.
Not having a boss is a plus, but (here’s a little caveat), you do need to become more accountable to yourself! However, that’s what I’m here for.
Once you’re qualified, you can continue coaching and supervision with me, so you’ve got that accountability partner to keep you on track – you don’t have to go it alone.
And my favourite part – no commute! You can work from home or rent a treatment room. How you structure your business is entirely up to you.
When you run your own business this way, your work fits around your life, not the other way around.
2.Becoming a Hypnotherapist is meaningful
The role of a Hypnotherapist goes deep. You’re helping people with real-life challenges that are stopping them from living a fulfilled life. From the person with a fear of flying who has dreams of seeing the world, to the person with a fear of public speaking and a lack of confidence, who turns down job promotions and feels unfulfilled.
Helping people to overcome those fears and limiting beliefs is extremely rewarding and meaningful. It makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning. And that’s rare, right? It’s not a *job* in the strictest sense. It’s a vocation and one every Hypnotherapist is proud of.
3.Studying to become a Hypnotherapist is accessible
You can study the Hypnotherapy course completely online through our self study certification, so those who have caring responsibilities or are still working full time can build it into their day-to-day lives at a time and pace to suit them. Many of our students come from caring backgrounds or are already working full time, so it’s important to have that option. Our in-person Clinical Hypnotherapy Diploma also takes place at weekends to make it as accessible as possible.
You don’t need any previous formal qualifications. Most people have no prior experience in therapy or psychology. Everything you need to know and learn will be on the course, and you’ll get plenty of practice. You just need a desire to help others.
4.Being self-employed means you can build a career that supports you financially
When you’re self-employed as a Hypnotherapist, you get to set your own rates, choose your niche, and scale your practice to work for you. The thought of charging rates and working out how much you’re going to make might sound daunting right now, but that’s why we add a business start-up module to our Hypnotherapy courses (both online and in person) so you’re equipped and ready to start building your practice straight away. We teach Hypnotherapy that creates such deep, lasting results, that our students go on to charge premium fees for the premium transformations.
There are many ways to make money as a Hypnotherapist that aren’t limited to one-to-one sessions. As time goes on, you might find yourself offering group workshops, online courses or even digital downloads. There are ways of making money that don’t entirely rely on you to work one-to-one, so you can free up more time, pivot or scale depending on what your goals are. Success looks different for everyone, and you can build your business to adapt to your version of how that looks.
5.When you become a Hypnotherapist, you achieve your own personal growth too
Training to become a Hypnotherapist goes beyond helping others. It’s a journey of personal development and growth. Whether that’s limiting beliefs or outdated narratives that have been holding you back, often, you’ll release them in the process too.
And it doesn’t stop there. As your practice grows, your confidence will grow as you begin working with more clients. Your intuition will deepen, and your skills will get sharper. You’ll be learning and expanding every year.
